PALM GENERATOR

A terrace balustrade is required for a mansion at the Costa Blanca. There are lush palm trees in the garden to be considered in the planning. The glistening sunlight is a further favourable constituent of the location. A natural demand for shade projection arises.

An artistic interpretation thus emerges, of palm leaves, veins, feathers and fans. They represent a connected system, organic structures, unique fingerprints. Its abstract forms resemble drawings on paper. Contours on a sheet as cut-outs for the railing appear.

A computer algorithm is modelled on the leafs as growing organisms. The Palm Generator can be fed with varying parameters, a matrix mimicking the dynamic structure. Through the balustrade, the sun casts changing leaf shapes onto the patio. Paradisiacal projections.
